Shriya Saran is an Indian actress and model who works predominantly in Telugu, Tamil and Bollywood films. He also starred in some films from Malayalam, English and Kannada. He was born on September 11, 1982 in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. His father, Pushpendra Saran, worked for Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited and his mother, Neeraja Saran, was a chemistry teacher. She has an older brother, Abhiroop Saran. He spent his childhood in the small town of the BHEL colony with the family. He studied at the Delhi Public School, Ranipur in Haridwar and at the Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, New Delhi. He later studied at Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi and received a degree in literature. She was involved with many dance teams in the university and with her teacher.
Shriya Saran began her career in the media with dancing. His dance teacher gave him the opportunity to perform in a music video "Thirakti Kyun Hawa", which draws the attention of many filmmakers in India. He made his acting debut with the film Telugu Ishtam in 2001, directed by Vikram Kumar. His first successful commercial film was the film Telham Santosham by K. Dasarath in 2002. He made his Bollywood debut with a supporting role in the movie Tujhe Meri Kasam, alongside Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza. His first film in English was The Other End of the Line (2008). The film was a coproduction of Americans and Indians.
